I Am The Mighty Kong !

My poem “In His Own Words” is one I love performing from my 2008 book “Fizzbombs”. It gives King Kong a chance to finally tell his version of the story. For a while I’ve been enjoying collaborating and experimenting with the ridiculously talented “Fireflies” (Nina Walsh, Dani Cali and Franck Alba) who perform sets of ambient, loopy, textured atmospheres and songs. “In His Own Words” became “I Am The Mighty Kong !” – have a listen and see what you think, there’s more to come:

At the Windmill, Brixton. December 2014. Thanks to Marissa for the video.

Time Travelling With Crystal Palace Transition Town Part 1

I travel back in time to when I first got involved in what has truly turned out to be a remarkable project. At the beginning, most of did not see ourselves as leading anything, just waiting for someone else to do something.

“Sorry? We’re in charge?”

“I don’t even know these people. Can we not just watch another video, this sounds too hard.”

We Do Do-Ocracy

“We Do Do-ocracy….(And Carrot Costumes)”

“In my 2013 welcome to the A.G.M.of Crystal Palace Transition Town I highlight the idea of do-ocracy. We are here to celebrate the do-ers. We have already gained a reputation in the area for a being a group that is pro-active and positive and it seems important to add that to our unspoken manifesto. There’s something impressive about putting the people who are “doing stuff” on the pedestal, giving them the microphone.”

In this blog for the Transition Network, I look at my involvement in Crystal Palace Transition Town:in particular how we have celebrated our achievements since 2011, and how our format for our Annual Celebration/A.G.M has changed to celebrate the “do-ers”. The blog also contains archive footage from the 2014 Event. Read More
